A Lovely Day

”When the day that lies ahead of me seems impossible to face” – Lovely Day – Bill Withers.  This song was heavily influenced by the songwriter Skip Scarborough, who previously worked with Patti Labelle, Earth, Wind & Fire and many other top R&B acts from the time period.  Bill describes Skip as one of the nicest men you’ll ever meet, and declared that when you are around nice people, the nice vibes continue in your musical collaboration.  In 1992 this song was covered by The Soul System, lending their version to the Bodyguard Soundtrack.  It wasn’t the first time that Bill Withers had a hit song covered, as Club Nouveau covered his classic Lean On Me back in 1987.

This line from this song “When the day that lies ahead of me seems impossible to face” is a beautiful lyric that honors the unsung heroes in our lives.  The image chosen here shows that we all have been given a “stepping stone” of sorts to help us overcome those obstacles that life throws at us.  Undoubtedly you have had more than one of these people in your life who has helped you get to where you are.  Take the inspiration right now.  Seize it.  Pick up the phone and call that one person who dramatically impacted your life, helped you through something that was “impossible to face” and make it A Lovely Day for them.  Those are #LyricsToLiveLifeBy.
