So here I go it’s my shot feet fail me not. This may be the only opportunity that I got.

“So here I go, it’s my shot. Feet fail me not. This may be the only opportunity that I got.” – Lose Yourself – Eminem.

This song is about the life of B Rabbit, the fictional(?) character from the movie, 8 Mile, starring Mr. Marshall Mathers himself.  Eminem’s autobiographical movie story continues with B Rabbit getting out of the factory life (hello Brittany Murphy), the trials and tribulations of growing up in inner city Detroit below 8 mile, and working at his rap game.

This song has deep personal meaning to me as I was living in Metro Detroit at the time of its release, yet I was thinking of seizing my one opportunity as well.  The year was 2002.  Eminem’s new album was just released, and I was making the decision to embark on my own path, uproot my family from the city they were living in and move over 500 miles away to a town where my wife grew up but no one knew my name and start a new business.  My wife and I wanted to raise our kids in a smaller town situation near where she grew up, and this was yet another ROAR moment (hit me up to understand that) in my life.

“Look, if you had one shot or one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted in one moment.  Would you capture it, or just let it slip?”  I remember feeling decisive.  I remember feeling empowered.  I remember feeling energized.  I dare you to BUMP.  THIS.  TRACK and not feel the same feelings.  Lose Yourself is motivation for your earbuds, your mind and your soul.
